PROGRAMS

All swimming sessions are conducted as private (one-on-one) sessions.

Clients can buddy swim (max two people) but both individuals must be committed to the duration of the program.

 

Weight Loss

The weight loss aqua therapy program is about overall lifestyle and behavior change.  Carrying extra weight for a long period of time can and will eventually damage the body, mind, and soul.  The body will lose flexibility, muscles will become weak, and breathing will become difficult.  In this program we will take a holistic and long term approach to restoring your health.

  • We will work together (privately) 3-4 days per week. In the beginning coaching sessions will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes until the body gets stronger. Then we will start to transition to longer workouts
  • You will learn proper swimming form and breathing techniques
  • You will develop body awareness and recognize how movement or stillness in one part of the body affects another part.
  • We will address your nutrition. If you currently work with a nutritionist, awesome!  If not, we will develop a customized plan for you.  This likely will require some tests, including a micronutrient test and cardiovascular panel.
  • Losing weight should not be drudgery. We will laugh, cry and have fun together.

Endurance

Swimming works every muscle in your body including your heart!  If you are out of shape or are used to land based exercises, you have likely experienced that feeling of dying on the first lap!  Have no fear!  You can become a strong swimmer with practice and consistent work.

  • We will work together (privately) 3-4 days per week. In the beginning coaching sessions will last approximately 45 to 1 hr until the body gets stronger. Then we will start to transition to longer workouts
  • You will improve your swimming form and technique.
  • You will learn how to properly use swimming aids (toys) including a snorkel, fins, kick board, and paddles.
  • You will learn how to read a pace clock and work with intervals
  • You will receive a customized workout plan that incorporates drills, sprints and distance work
  • You will gain lean muscle mass and improve your cardiovascular health
  • You will  work hard but have tons of fun

Trauma/Fear

Fear of swimming can get embedded in the deep recesses of the mind  and create havoc.  It can hinder someone from spending time and making memories at the pool or beach with their friends and family.  In swimming, many fears revolve around someone putting their face in the water and not being able to breath.  This fear can be overcome!

  • We will work together once a week for 30 minutes.
  • We will incorporate intentional play (beach balls, noodles, rings, kick boards)
  • We will move slowly and methodically addressing each fear trigger (i.e. deep water)
  • You will learn to blow bubbles and bob up/down until you can repeatedly go under water without feeling afraid
  • You will learn how to tread water, jump from the side and eventually swim freestyle
  • You will have fun and  learn that a pool is just a big bath tub to play in
